Parents F.Y.I. Kings Library Will Be Open This Summer! Wednesdays, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. The month of June Please continue to have your child read so he/she does not lose gains in reading skills. Take our reading challenge and keep track of books read to win prizes for your child’s birthday party to be awarded in the fall. One raffle ticket for each book read. Parent signature is required.

Reading Logs… Here Ye, Here Ye Students who read 16 books—Grades K-3 & Students who read 8 novels—Grades 4-8 and fill out their reading logs with parent signatures will receive a book or a prize and receive a reading certificate. Congratulations to the students who met this goal. |

Monthly Motivational Reading Program... Color Your World….Read! Students receive small prizes for participation and their names are placed in a monthly drawing. Grades K-4 K-4 students received take home activities to learn library skills or receive themed coloring sheets. A Big Thank You to All K-3 Parents who helped make our 1st Library/Collaborative Max’s Words Writing Project a great Success! Students learned how to create sentences, sort words into categories including parts of speech. The stories turned out to be incredible! “Max’s Words” is a book that teaches children the writing process. Congratulations to all 2nd & 3rd Grade Series Book Club Participants Second grade students chose sets of books to read (Puppy Place, Black Lagoon Adventures, Babymouse, etc.) 3rd grade students also read series books including the Carole Marsh Mysteries, Spiderwick Chronicles, and others, too. 3rd grade students in addition to just reading the books, they also did extension projects, too.

Library Skills Class Grades 6-8 In class this year students learned about reference materials, the Dewey Decimal System, poetry techniques & terms. They played “Almania” using almanacs to utilize their critical thinking, reading, and research skills. We had a playoff and the winning team won a dessert party at lunch. Students also wrote reading response reports on novels read.
