What is Response To Intervention (RTI)?
RTI is a state mandated program to help identify the educational needs of all of our students by identifying specific needs
The whole school is given a Benchmarking test to determine the current reading levels of all students three times a year. Once in the fall, winter, and spring. It doesn’t take a lot of time and it help the staff to see what we can do to aid the students in learning
This level of intervention is used when the student scores do not increase after Tier one interventions were not enough. Most of these interventions are done outside of the classroom by a certified staff member in addition to time in the classroom
What happens after tier three doesn’t seem to help? If the student has not reached the goals set for by the SAT team then the next probable step is to look into Special education services.
Most of the interventions are done in the classroom by the classroom teacher. It is designed to be a booster shot help at least three times a week.

This level of interventions are used when the student’s abilities do not increase. Tier three interventions are done outside of the classroom daily for at longer periods of time.
What do you use to determine what Tier level they should be on?
We first use benchmarking test to determine where each students needs help. If the student needs a little help then they would get a tier one intervention. If they need more then they would get a tier two intervention. If a student is having a really hard time with it then they would get a tier three intervention.
What do you use to determine if a student has made progress or not?
When a student is in the RTI process then we do weekly progress monitoring. We test students weekly to show how they are doing.
How do you determine what interventions to use?
A team of teacher including the student’s current teacher, decide what tool to use in order for the student to gain the most from it. Then the same team reviews the progress to see if another tool needs to be used, is the student starting to get better, or do we need to look at moving the student to the next Tier level.
Why are we doing this?
1. We believe that in doing this we can help students gain a better grasp of concepts needed to be a successful student and a productive member of our community.
2. State law mandates that we have a written plan in place to address the needs of all of our students.
